Kaliveedu -2024- Boomex Original Review
The title Kaliveedu translates roughly to “House of Play” or “Game House,” but there is nothing playful about the sprawling, decrepit tharavad (ancestral home) at the film’s core. The story follows , a young architect who returns to her family’s abandoned estate in rural Kerala after her estranged mother’s mysterious death. Her task is clinical: assess the property for demolition and settle legal affairs. However, the house has other plans.
There’s a strange courage in houses that aren’t only brick and wood but repositories of choices, rehearsed rituals and quiet rebellions. Kaliveedu—literally “house of learning”—becomes a lens in BoomEX’s 2024 original: not a static set-piece but a living archive where history, aspiration and the day-to-day collide.
