Internet Download Manager is famous for accelerating downloads by splitting files into multiple threads. To do this, it needs to "see" every download link you click. Modern browsers, especially Chrome, have strict security policies that prevent external programs from directly monitoring your clicks.

Open your browser's page (type chrome://extensions in the address bar). Enable Developer Mode (toggle in the top-right corner).
