Hailing from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Carlos Tierranegra (vocals, bajo sexto) and José Lozano (vocals, accordion) created a raw, unpolished, yet deeply authentic sound known as “El Sonido Reynosa” (The Reynosa Sound). Unlike the flashier border bands, Carlos y José focused on gritty narcocorridos, heartbreak boleros, and rural rancheras, becoming icons for working-class Mexicans on both sides of the border.
